The Forum in the European Parliament for Construction will aim to provide:-

  1. An arena for open debate, by bringing together decision makers from the Construction industry, and its related sectors, together with legislators from the Institutions of the European Union.
  2. A place to exchange information and views and act as a think tank to develop a competitive, efficient and sustainable industry.
  3. A means to promote the image of the industry and encourage professional and vocational training.
  4. For the development of ideas that can be translated into practice promoting the following areas:-
    • A competitive industry
    • Sustainable development
    • New technology and research
    • Information technology to assist in the modernisation of the industry
    • Developing professional services
    • EU harmonised standards
    • High standards in Public procurement
    • A truly international image for the industry
  5. The Forum will underline the important role that the construction industry plays in the economic and social prosperity of Member States and the European Union as a whole.
  6. It will also aim to promote partnership with non-European Union countries and to involve them in the EU's strategic policies for the industry.
  7. The Forum will hold at least four meetings each year for the development of dialogue between those in the industry and the EU Institutions.
  8. A structured programme of issues of immediate importance to the industry will be discussed and every effort made to promote ideas.
  9. The forum will be non-profit making.
